Don't know why I stopped doing this, but here we go again.
What's new? Natalie: Got her first tooth finally. Crusin around the furniture like a pro. She will walk just fine as long as someone is holding her hand, but drops to the floor pronto if we let go, lol.
Emily: Lost her 3rd tooth a few weeks ago. Started kindergarden. She LOVES school. They get stamps each day to show how their behavior has been. Green stamp means they had a good day, yellow means they got at least 3 warnings, orange is needed constant redirecting, and red means they had a really bad day, bit or hit someone. Emily is so proud when I pick her up to show me what color stamp she got that day. Up to 6 green stamps now. :) She had her first day of homework today. Just writing her name 3 times and practicing counting to 10....to which she laughed and said she could count to 200, lol. She is also joining the 100 book challenge for her class....where she has to read 100 books out loud to me and she gets prizes for doing it. She is excited!
Caitlin: Is doing soooo much better on her learning. She finally has all her alphabet down, uppercase and lowercase, and can pretty much write all of them too. She started Pre-K and loves it as well.
I'll post some pics either tonight or tomorrow. It is definatly weird having them in school, having peace and quiet during the day for the most part!
Sad: Jinger passed away on Friday. :( She has been very sick, and we had an appointment for her to go to the vet that afternoon. We were getting a second consultation on her, as when we went a couple weeks ago, the vet had talked about putting her to sleep. If the vet still wanted to, we were going to do it that afternoon. I let her out to do her business about 15 minutes before we needed to leave. When it was time to go, I could not find her. I finally found she had crawled through a hole in our fence and passed away on the other side. :( I am glad she is not suffering anymore, but I still wish she was here. She was the most gentle dog I have ever been around. We love you Jinger:
Funny/Grumpy: I love my kiddos, but they KNOW mommy is not a morning person. It was so cute this morning though. Those little darlings found a frog somewhere and decided to come and show me. The frog had other plans. It is now hiding somewhere in my bedroom, after being scared for life from the high pitched shreaking and screaming and laughing from Emily and Caitlin trying to find it after it jumped to freedom. Caitlin declared the frog as being too hoppy.
Happy: Miss Natalie is definatly crawling now! It's cute though, because she does this rocking thing most of the time before she will go forward, but she can get where she wants to now, and is getting faster by the day. Check it out:
Today, Emily read most of a Level 2 reader book. I did the bigger words, but she did awesome. She also tied her shoes by herself for the first time, yay! (Thanks Daddy!!)
and Natalie isn't exactly crawling, lol, but there is some sort of forward movement. She does this weird, lay head down, turn to the side a little, bring knee up, push down with foot on carpet thing that pushes her forward just a little bit at a time. But she is a pro at turning around in circles on her belly!
Caitlin is getting a little better with her letters. She can easily spell Emily, but we are working with her on her own name. Emily is being great here too, because she helps Caitlin in her own way as well.
The thing I love about kids is....you never know what will come out of their mouths at any given time.
Today has been a very long day: Emily and Caitlin bickering on and off all day long, Natalie being unconsolable with her teething, and taking our very old dog to the vet and knowing she may have to be put down soon as she is just getting worse. (She has breast cancer, possible failing kidneys according to the vet, and will not stop throwing up every time she eats :( )
But Emily made me think for a bit, and reminice about how easy kids have it sometimes, lol.
We were rushing to get to the store before it closed, and I was trying to get Natalie cleaned up from dinner. I turned around to find Emily stripping her clothes off after I asked her to get her shoes on.
Me: EMILY! Get dressed, we need to get going! Emily: Why? Me: We need to hurry to the store! Emily: Mommy..... Me: <annoyed look her way> Emily: Wouldnt it just be more fun to dance?
That stopped me in my tracks, because, yes, it would be more fun to dance, lol. Luckily she turned around and redressed including shoes without my prompting again, but it made me think. of this poem, which has been emailed to me over and over again:
Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round, or listened to rain slapping the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight, or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast, time is short, the music won't last.
Do you run through each day on the fly, when you ask "How are you?", do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed, with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast, time is short, the music won't last.
Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow, and in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a friendship die, 'cause you never had time to call and say hi?
You better slow down, don't dance so fast, time is short, the music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere, you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day, it's like an unopened gift thrown away.
Life isn't a race, so take it slower, hear the music before your song is over
Kevin went to get his hair cut yesterday, and Caitlin asked to get hers done too. She loved it last time she got hers cut. Due to Emily recently cutting the sides of her hair again, we told her she needed hers cut as well so it would be evened out.
We went to Memorial Park on Tybee Island for our 2nd Easter egg hunt with our playgroup on March 22nd. It was a gorgous day. They have an awesome playground there too, so the girls had a blast, and Emily threw a major fit when it was time to go. Here are some pictures of them playing and of the Easter egg hunt.
Not the best pictures, but here are their Easter baskets. Natalie:

Caitlin: (Somehow the "l" got peeled off in her name....)
I was having trouble uploading it, so I went to a different site that I have not used in, oh, 2 1/2 years now. When I logged in, I found these videos. I forgot they were there. :) Enjoy!
